A staircase takes more daily wear than almost any other surface in your home, and it's usually the first thing anyone sees. Worn treads, chipped paint on spindles, and a handrail that's lost its shine let the whole property down — even when the floors either side look immaculate.

Why we don't quote a fixed staircase price
Unlike a room of floorboards, no two staircases take the same amount of work. Spindle count varies enormously, paint often needs full stripping before spindles can be resprayed or restained, and a curved or winding staircase takes far longer than a straight run. A price that made sense for one staircase could be wildly wrong for the next.
